The Democratic Obama/Biden Administration capably managed multiple outbreaks and as a result developed a “Playbook for Early Response to High-Consequence Emerging Infectious Disease Threats and Biological Incidents”. The Global Health Security and Biodefense Unit — responsible for pandemic preparedness — was established in 2015 by the Obama/Biden Administration. Democrats have consistently endorsed social distancing, mask wearing, and the scientific consensus regarding Covid-19.

The Republican Trump/Pence Administration never read the Playbook and eliminated the Biodefense Unit placed under the NSC at the White House. As a result, the Republican led Trump Administration has denied the science regarding covid-19, has actively discouraged mask wearing and social distancing at Trump events. The U.S. has had the worst covid-19 response of any major western power with the highest rates of infection per capita. When asked about inadequate testing, Trump said “I don’t take responsibility at all.

Celebrating 100 Years

The first province in the world to award and maintain women’s suffrage (the right to vote) continuously, was Wyoming Territory, of the U.S., in 1869, and the first sovereign nation was Norway in 1913. In the U.S. women won the right to vote when the 19 th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was passed in 1920 – 100 years ago. Since that time women have surpassed men as the largest, most important, block of registered voters in the U.S.

Voting Rights Act

The Voting Rights Act of 1965 is a landmark piece of federal legislation in the United States that prohibits racial discrimination in voting. Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., perhaps the leading advocate of the bill is congratulated here by President Lyndon Johnson after signing the bill into law.
